Terms & Conditions
Last updated: October 2026
Please read these terms carefully. They set out the basis on which House of Harlequin sells fabric products to customers placing orders through this website.
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions govern your purchase of fabric products from House of Harlequin ('we', 'us', 'our'), a British fabric design studio based in the Cotswolds, England. By placing an order with us you agree to be bound by these terms.
Please read these terms carefully before placing your order. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@houseofharlequin.co.uk before purchasing.
2. Products
All fabrics are sold by the metre or as samples (20 cm lengths) unless otherwise stated. Fabric widths, compositions, and weights are listed on each product page and are correct to the best of our knowledge.
Colours are represented as accurately as possible, but due to variations in screen calibration and the nature of hand-painted designs, the finished fabric may differ slightly from images shown on the website. We strongly recommend ordering a sample before committing to a larger quantity.
All fabrics are cut to order and are therefore non-returnable unless faulty. Please ensure you order the correct quantity before purchasing.
3. Ordering & Payment
Orders are accepted via our website only. By submitting an order you are making an offer to purchase; a contract is formed when we send you an order confirmation by email.
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order at our discretion, including where a product is found to be mispriced or unavailable.
Payment is taken in full at the time of ordering. We accept major debit and credit cards via our secure payment processor. All prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable.
4. Cutting & Dispatch
All fabrics are cut to order. Our standard dispatch time is 10-14 working days from the date of order confirmation. We will notify you by email when your order has been dispatched.
During busy periods or for bespoke orders, lead times may be longer. We will communicate any delays as soon as possible.
5. Inspection Before Cutting
It is the responsibility of the customer to inspect all fabric for any imperfections, faults, or discrepancies in meterage before cutting. This applies whether you are cutting the fabric yourself or instructing a third party (such as an upholsterer or seamstress) to do so.
Once fabric has been cut, we are unable to accept a return or offer a refund under any circumstances, including where a fault is subsequently identified. We therefore strongly advise that you examine the full length of fabric carefully - checking for weave irregularities, colour inconsistencies, and that the meterage supplied matches your order - before any cutting takes place.
If you identify a fault or shortfall prior to cutting, please contact us immediately at hello@houseofharlequin.co.uk with your order number and photographs of the issue.
6. Returns & Faulty Goods
Because all fabrics are cut to order, we are unable to accept returns or exchanges unless the goods are faulty or not as described.
As set out in Section 5 above, no return or refund can be offered once fabric has been cut, regardless of the nature of any fault discovered after cutting. Please inspect your fabric thoroughly before cutting.
If you believe your fabric is faulty and it has not been cut, please contact us within 14 days of receipt at hello@houseofharlequin.co.uk with your order number and photographs of the fault. We will assess the claim and, where a fault is confirmed, offer a replacement, repair, or refund at our discretion.
Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected by these terms.
7. Samples
Fabric samples (20 cm lengths) are available to purchase. Samples are non-refundable. The cost of a sample may not be deducted from a subsequent full order.
8. Bespoke & Trade Orders
Bespoke and trade enquiries are subject to separate terms agreed at the time of quotation. Please contact us directly to discuss your requirements.
9. Intellectual Property
All designs, patterns, and artwork produced by House of Harlequin remain our intellectual property. Fabrics purchased from us are for personal or commercial interior use only. Reproduction, resale of the design, or use of our patterns in any other manufactured product is strictly prohibited without our prior written consent.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability to you in connection with any order shall not exceed the total price paid for that order. We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or economic loss arising from your purchase.
11. Privacy
Your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available on this website. We will not share your data with third parties except as necessary to fulfil your order.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
13. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. The version in force at the time of your order will apply to that order.
